More about Panid Sharifnia, MD, PhD

While initially planning a career in medical research, she was always interested in science and the science of the brain as it is complex on many levels. This eventually led her to psychiatry and clinical practice. Additionally, the emotional component of psychiatry, being able to connect with her patients, and helping them with issues in their lives were ultimately what drew her into psychiatry and helping patients.

Dr. Sharifnia works work collaboratively with her patients. She listens intently to her patients and what they hope to get out of their work together. She strives to have her patients keep an open mind regarding her recommendations and treatment plan and to help achieve their own, individual treatment goals.

For Dr. Sharifnia, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and esketamine nasal spray provide treatment options for patients who may not be responding to medication alone. She also appreciates that TMS is still being researched for other uses. She first learned about interventional treatments such as TMS, esketamine, and ECT, in residency. After studying the promise of these treatments to help her patients, she knew she wanted to incorporate them into her practice.

She joins Mindful Health Solutions in the Fall of 2021.

For Dr. Sharifnia, the Bay Area has a great mix of cultures, diverse people, amazing food as well as the beauty of nature near a city, providing many opportunities to go hiking or spending the day in the park/beach, and she takes advantage of this! Outside of work, she loves to travel, hike, find the best bakeries, read, and spend time with family and friends.
